- The Science of HIIT
Fitness HIIT training is beneficial for your body in many ways; it can improve heart health and burn lots of calories in a short period of time. By tapping into different energy systems of your body, HIIT cardio classes and strength training bring you many of the same heart-health benefits as longer workouts, but in much less time.
After you finish a high-intensity workout, your body keeps burning calories for hours, even while you rest. This is why HIIT training can help so much with fat loss even though the actual workouts are shorter.
What to Expect in Our Classes
At the Billings Family YMCA, we offer several different high-intensity interval training classes for members looking for a new way to improve their fitness. While the specifics of these programs differ, all rely on alternating between high-intensity workouts and periods of rest or low-intensity exercise
A high intensity, military style workout class incorporating cardio and strength training; routines vary from obstacle courses to circuit training. Participants progress at their own level.
Interval Training can supercharge your fitness routine, boost your metabolism, burn calories and build strength. This class mixes high intensity bursts of exercise with moderate intensity recovery periods with strength training.
Moving On classes are FREE for members who have completed Commit to be Fit, LIVESTRONG®, Diabetes Prevention Program or Enhance®Fitness session.
If you are ready for the next step in strength, cardiovascular and flexibility training, this class is for you! Registration is not required.
